Elemental Excelerator, the premier organization accelerating impact startups, announced its 8th cohort of startups. Each year, Elemental Excelerator finds companies that best fit its mission and funds each up to $1 million to improve systems that impact people’s lives: water, agriculture, transportation, energy, circular economy, and beyond. From a pool of hundreds of applicants from 66 countries, Feasible and 16 other startups solving the world’s most pressing challenges were selected.
As the climate change clock ticks faster and faster, we know that every moment counts in taking action.
As Greta Thunberg reminded us during the 2019 United Nations Climate Action Summit, “To have a 67% chance of staying below a 1.5 degrees global temperature rise – the best odds given by the [Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change] – the world had 420 gigatons of CO2 left to emit back on Jan. 1st, 2018. Today that figure is already down to less than 350 gigatons.”
Tackling challenges in complex sectors such as mobility and energy requires an ecosystem approach, as Elemental Excelerator has demonstrated. The proliferation of electric vehicles is essential for the global transition to clean transportation, but friction points go far beyond the viability of the vehicle technology itself. In addition to Feasible’s ultrasound technology for improving battery cost and performance, both crucial needs for affordable long-range EVs, Elemental selected AMPLY Power and KIGT for Cohort 8. AMPLY’s charging-as-a-service model helps municipalities and businesses convert their fleets to electric vehicles. KIGT manufactures equipment and designs software to ease the installation process and increase the availability of smart charging stations.
